What does tranquillity mean to me, what makes it special?
One of my favourite ways to find tranquillity was something we did on a recent road trip with my Soul Sisters, hosted by Arniya from Loveyourself.co.nz We took some time to ‘go bush’.
Sitting in pristine, natural bush fills my soul in ways words can’t capture. The sound of birds chattering, the wooshing of the Kererū above my head (even though I couldn't see them), the rustling of the wind through the trees and the creaking of branches rubbing together—it wasn't silent, but it was deeply peaceful. In that moment, I felt the magic of nature weaving around me, supporting me, and nourishing me, allowing me to surrender to its tranquil energy.
For me, tranquillity is an experience—a sensory journey that's different for everyone. Only you know what, where, or how you might find it. A place in nature is my go-to. For others, it might be on a beach, by a lake, lying on the earth, soaring in the sky, or standing at the peak of a mountain. It’s unique to your soul.
Surrender into peace, rest in tranquillity?
It’s easy to stay busy, focused on the external world, to avoid turning inward because there’s a fear of what we might find, or maybe simply a perceived sense of lack of time. Most of us have shadows, hidden parts of ourselves that we keep well hidden out of sight. But these are our greatest teachers. If we can acknowledge them, they lose their power over us.
So, what happens if we allow ourselves to surrender?
Building Blocks to Tranquillity
Can we surrender to tranquillity without falling into an internal abyss? What does surrendering feel like? It’s all about acceptance of self and releasing resistance.
Tranquillity is magical, peaceful, the ahh moment when you find a sense of stillness. It’s about taking time for yourself— it can be as simple as just a few minutes. Those micro-moments are powerful when you make them a daily habit, rather than saving them up for a once-weekly “break.”
Here’s how you can start:
Stop and breathe: To settle your nervous system.
Find comfort: Consciously release any detectable tension. Create spaciousness within yourself with simple movements.
Shift your emotions: Witness your emotions and practise shifting them. Move from irritation, frustration, or anger into calm contentment.
At the moment I am working on creating an online course, launching soon—so stay tuned for more details! It’s all about the fundamental ways we can tap into greater calm, using simple tools that help us relax and find peace when life feels overwhelming. It’s based on the concept that gentle movement is medicine and that tranquillity, stillness, and spaciousness are always within reach when we surrender and rest in our beauty and uniqueness.
In the meantime do allocate yourself some quiet ‘me’ time, put down your phone go out into nature and feel its revitalizing energy.
