Why Explore Your Shadow Side?

Let’s face it: Life on Earth right now is a bit of a rollercoaster. Staying positive? That can be tough some days, especially when the technology I’m using isn’t working the same way it did last week. So, if we want to stay positive, why on earth would we bother exploring our shadow side? From my experience, that’s where the real magic happens.

It’s in the shadows where I find my greatest teachers. The parts of me I’d rather not think about—my fears, insecurities, and limiting beliefs—are actually my best guides. They push me to dig a little deeper, to get curious about who I really am, and to see that even my most overwhelming fears hold valuable lessons. When I face them and shift my mindset, I shift my energy.

Lately, my shadow side has been front and center. I’m working on an online mini course (coming soon, by the way!), but here’s the catch: I’m not a videographer or photographer. Technology frustrates me, especially when my aim in life is to keep things as simple as possible.

So why am I doing this, when my strengths are in teaching relaxation, both online and in person? I believe in the power of movement as medicine, and I’m fascinated by the intersection of science and spirituality. My intuition, energy, and vibration are the tools I rely on to help me find peace—especially in nature and stillness. Change is in the air, and with it, a new challenge.

When recorded videos are not compatible with the software, when figuring out how to get the right lighting in the room becomes a mini-project of its own, when filming myself seated, standing, and lying down on the floor feels like a logistical puzzle, and when I try to maintain continuity while also coming across as authentic and professional—all on a budget—yeah, there’s still a lot to learn. But instead of letting these challenges bog me down, what happens when I embrace them? After all, it’s in the discomfort that growth happens.
